Marlene Hill Gilbert - Obituary

August 27, 1947 - July 25, 2010 Services: Jul 28, 2010 • 6:00 - 9:00 pm   - Location: Marlene Gilbert's Home Map to Services   Our wonderful mom passed away yesterday surrounded by her loving family after fighting a brave battle against cancer. She fought this battle as she did other struggles in her life - with dignity and grace, never allowing others to see her heartache and pain. Born to Cal and Margaret Hill in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, she received her nursing degree and spent her life caring for others. She left a legacy of love and the importance of family to us which will remain in our hearts forever. Marlene leaves to mourn her sons and best friends, Rory (Kim) & Sean Ackroyd, and the lights of her life, her grandsons Josh and Jaden. Also left to mourn are her mother, Margaret Hill, brothers Byron (Sue), Ron (Lynn), sisters, Shiela (Bernie) Norton, Pattie (Mark) Lizzi and numerous nieces and nephews who thought she was the "bees knees". All who knew her are welcome to join the family and enjoy each others company at her home in Cedar City, Utah at 190 Highland Drive on Wednesday July 28th, 2010 from 6:00-9:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Marlene’s name to The Caring for Carcinoid Foundation (caringforcarcinoid.org). A graveside service will be held at the Temple Hill Cemetery in Raymond, Alberta, Canada on a later date for family and close friends. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
